Success Story: Apollo
Success Story: Apollo
On a scorching summer day in July 2023, Harrison and Olga stumbled upon a frail kitten in the bustling streets of Rhodes. With hearts full of compassion, they reached out to Diane Chapman of Greek Animal Rescue for help. Diane swiftly mobilized a network of animal heroes, including the seasoned volunteer Tina Christoffersen and Emmanuel Vasmanolis, who both didn't hesitate to lend a helping hand.
Apollo's journey wasn't easy. With a fractured bone, a severe eye infection and a frail body, the odds seemed stacked against him. But with the unwavering dedication of vets at Vet Care who managed to save and heal the fractured leg and the tender care of Emmanuel, who fostered him, Apollo fought bravely. Apollo's spirit soared further after his second operation, this time for eye removal at Agapi Vet in Soroni. Despite losing his eye, his resilience shone through, filling Emmanuel's home with warmth and joy. Apollo was back.
After 2 months of recovery and with the help of Diane Chapman, Greek Animal Rescue, Flora from Aristocats cattery in Athens and Thomson Pet Travel, Apollo finally arrived in the UK in the hands of Olga and Harrison, the couple who originally found him on the street. Today, Apollo thrives in his loving, spacious forever home, joining his new family of four resident cats in the UK.
His journey from the streets of Rhodes to a life filled with love and comfort is a testament to the power of compassion and community.
