Rhodes has tens of thousands of stray cats. Most will never know a warm home, a full bowl or a name. We can't fix that. But we can sterilise colonies, keep cats healthy, and find the right ones a family — in Greece or somewhere across Europe where someone is ready to open their door.
We are not an organisation. We are two people who decided to show up, and kept showing up. This is TsambiCats.
It started, as these things often do, with a handful of cats that simply appeared. A few strays. A decision to take responsibility. From that beginning, a network grew — volunteers, vets, adopters across Europe, people who visited Rhodes and couldn't quite forget a cat they'd met on a terrace or a side street. Some of them adopted. Some sent food money. Some still send photos.
Over 30 cats have left Rhodes for permanent homes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK and the Netherlands. Each one has a name, a story and a family that chose them. We stay in touch with all of them.
In the meantime, the work on the ground continues — sterilisations, vet runs, colony feeding, emergency care. Rhodes gives us no shortage of cats that need attention. What we have is limited capacity, honest intentions and a growing community of people who care.
